Performance at Musikfest Cafe in SteelStacks - Sunday, August 4, 2024, 5:30 - 7:00 pm
The Musikfest recital is an excellent opportunity for our organization to present a quality program, which can represent the best we have to offer as music-educators. The guidelines should be considered by both teachers and students prior to completing the application form.

-
Teachers encourage only the best of the teaching studio to apply, up to and including students who graduated from high school in the last 3 months but not exceeding the high school level.
-
Teachers must complete the studio application and submit it by the published deadline. The studio application must list ALL details of every entry, including all names for any ensemble. An audition schedule will be set after the application deadline.
-
Students are required to play or sing two pieces from memory at the audition. Please present at least one ORIGINAL copy of the score of both pieces for the judging committee at the audition. Students should prepare two (2) memorized musical selections (even duets must be memorized) for the audition. If they are unable to audition in person, they must submit an audio or video submission prior to the audition date, along with copies of the music. If chosen to participate, students will perform only one of those pieces at the Musikfest recital. All selections must be less than 5 minutes in length.
-
All repertoire performed must be appropriate for all ages and audiences. Lyrics may not include any direct or indirect references to drugs, alcohol, violence, sex, include any foul language, or any other subject / topic the committee deems inappropriate. The Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any piece. The judging committee reserves the right to accept or reject any piece. The judging committee's decision is final. It is the submitting teacher's responsibility to ensure all music is appropriate for all ages.
-
The repertoire must not include “method pieces” below level three in any of the popular series such as Faber & Faber, Alfred, Learning Tree, etc. Serious music (classical), Jazz, Blues, and Broadway music for all musicians, including singers is acceptable.
-
Each student presents his/her pieces at the audition before the committee via (1) live audition or via (2) CD, thumb drive, or internet video to the chairperson before the audition date. All auditions must be of live music only. Recorded auditions must be of a live performance of all involved; no tracks. The audition must be an exact representation of the intended performance at Musikfest.
-
Piano duets and other ensemble presentations will count as one piece for each of the performers.
-
In an effort to present the best LVMTA has to offer, all performances, including accompaniments, must be performed live at Musikfest. No recordings or tracks will be permitted.
-
Timing of repertoire must be exact when completing the application and less than 5 minutes for each piece.
-
The goal of the Musikfest performance is to showcase a high caliber of music education and excellence.
The audition, as in the past, serves to ensure that the student is ready to perform his/her piece in public from memory and to ensure that the allotted time slots can be filled.
