The annual Lehigh Valley Music Teachers Association Playathon, sponsored by Jacobs Music, is our primary fund raising vehicle.

Proceeds provide generous scholarships to selected college music majors and music camp scholarships for high school applicants. Also supported are the Achievement Awards Auditions, Dorothy Sutton Performance Festival, annual recitals at local colleges and Musikfest, master classes, lectures, and workshops for teachers and students, and group discount tickets and bus trips to performances in the Valley and beyond.

 

In advance of their Playathon performances, student musicians collect cash pledges from their family, friends, and neighbors.

This fun filled event provides a wonderful performance experience for the musicians and a delightful listening experience for their families, friends, and passers-by. Students are invited to perform any style of music, memorization is not required, and ensembles are encouraged.

All repertoire performed must be appropriate for all ages and audiences.  Lyrics may not include any direct or indirect references to drugs, alcohol, violence, sex, include any foul language, or any other subject / topic the committee deems inappropriate.  The committee reserves the right to accept or reject any piece.  The committee reserves the right to accept or reject any piece.  The committee's decision is final.  It is the submitting teacher's responsibility to ensure all music is appropriate
